PHASE 2:
As per previous Update #60, in the next week, our Contractor will be completing major paving operations in the Village of Alton. The following works are scheduled to take place June 22-26 week, weather dependent:

Monday June 22:
King Street, Edmund Street, Station Street, McClellan Road
+ Placement of top asphalt
+ Temporary road closures are anticipated

Tuesday June 23 – Friday June 26:
Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to 800m South of Beechgrove Sideroad

Tuesday June 23: Placement of top asphalt
+ No road closure is anticipated; lane reductions in effect – single lane; pay duty police assisting with traffic control

Wednesday June 24: Placement of top asphalt
+ No road closure is anticipated; lane reductions in effect – single lane; pay duty police assisting with traffic control

​Wednesday June 24 - Friday June 26:
+ Placement of permanent pavement markings (Queen St E, Main St S, King St, Edmund St, Station St, McClellan Rd)

Thursday June 25 – Friday June 26:
Main/Queen Intersection, School Crossing, Fire Fall
+ Application of pattern colour asphalt crosswalks and warning areas

PHASE 2:
All lanes have been opened

*** In the next two to three weeks, the Contractor will be placing top asphalt on Main Street, from Main/Queen Intersection to South of Beechgrove. In addition, side streets within our project limits: King, Edmund, Station and McClellan will be paved. This operation will require temporary-short duration lane and side street closures and detours. We will be providing further updates as we get closer to the date.

In the last two weeks, the Contractor:
o Completed stone work at the retaining wall adjacent to the cemetery
o Completed placement of armour stone inside gateway Northern island
o Completed installation of pattern colour concrete splash pads on Main Street, from Main/Queen Intersection to South
o Completed planting new trees on Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to Beechgrove, including parkette area and gas station
o Completed placement of armourstone feature – flower bed at N/W corner of McClellan and Main
o Completed installation of street furniture, bike racks and waste bins on Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to South of McClellan, including parkette area
o Completed installation of decorative bollards at N/W corner of McClellan and Main Street, cemetery wall and parkette area
o Completed installation of streetlight back shields on Main Street South and McClellan
o Continued driveways reconstruction
o Continued placement of top soil on Main Street, from gateway monument to Main/Queen Intersection
o Commenced planting new shrubs at gateway medians, flower beds and parkette area

In the next two weeks, the Contractor will:
o Complete placement of top soil on Main Street, from gateway monument to Main/Queen Intersection
o Complete planting new shrubs on Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to Beechgrove, including parkette area and gas station
o Complete placement of mulch at all flower beds
o Complete installation of decorative fencing at the retaining wall adjacent to the cemetery
o Complete driveways reconstruction
o Complete installation of ALTON letters at Northern gateway median
o Complete placement of top asphalt on Main Street, from Main/Queen Intersection to South of Beechgrove, including side streets
o Commence placement of sod
o Commence line painting: pattern colour asphalt impressed crosswalks at Main/Queen Intersection, school and Fire Hall
o Commence installation of permanent signs
