Update on Phase 2 Alton Village Streetscaping from Serguei Kabanov, Project Manager

The roadway remains open, with temporary lane closures: Queen Street East, between railway tracks and Main/Queen Intersection – South side of the roadway is now temporary closed – signals in place. Main Street South, between King and McClellan – West side of the roadway remains temporary closed – signals in place. Contractor will be working most Saturdays, 07:00AM – 4:00PM to expedite work.
 
Please note that the Region of Peel installed additional temporary speed cushions and signage on Main Street North, North of Mary Street. The type and the location of the cushions was selected by the Town of Caledon. The cushions and signage will remain on the roadway until October 31, 2019.

Update on Phase 1 Alton Village Streetscaping from Serguei Kabanov, Project Manager

The roadway is open. Please note that in the next month, the Region of Peel will be undertaking additional resurfacing work on Queen Street East, between Phase 1 Easterly Limit and Railway Tracks North of Queen/Porterfield Intersection (see Google sketch below). The work to be done will include but not be limited to, the removal of existing asphalt and gravel shoulders and replacing it with new/wider asphalt surface to accommodate cycling, replacement of guide rail systems and placement of new thermoplastic line markings. The work will be carried out as Day Work between the hours of 07:00AM and 7:00PM. We anticipate the work to be a very short duration. Further notice on the actual start date will be provided through future updates.
 
In the last two weeks, the Contractor:
+ Completed planting additional shrubs at the gateway monument
+ Completed sealing permeable pavers at lay-by
+ Completed the removal of storage containers
 
In the next two weeks, the Contractor:
+ Complete placement of new thermoplastic pavement markings – yellow lines
+ General site clean-up

PHASE 1:
The roadway is open.
 In the last two weeks, the Contractor:
  • Completed line painting within the lay-by
  • Partially completed planting additional shrubs at the gateway monument
  • Commenced placement of new thermoplastic pavement markings
 
  • In the next two weeks, the Contractor:
    • Will complete placement of new thermoplastic pavement markings
    • Will complete additional planting at the gateway monument, inside the planter
    • General site clean-up
 
 PHASE 2:
The roadway remains open, with temporary lane closures: Queen Street East, between railway tracks and Main/Queen Intersection – South side of the roadway is now temporary closed – signals in place.  Main Street South, between King and McClellan – West side of the roadway remains temporary closed – signals in place.  Contractor will be working most Saturdays, 07:00AM – 4:00PM to expedite work.
 
  •  In the last two weeks, the Contractor:
    • Completed road excavation at Main/Queen Intersection
    • Completed placement of concrete curbs at Main/Queen Intersection
    • Completed placement of base asphalt at Main/Queen Intersection
    • Completed storm sewer installation along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
    • Continued installation of the retaining wall at the cemetery
    • Continued underground electrical works, throughout
    • Continued storm sewer installation along the West side of Main Street South, South of Main/Queen Intersection
    • Commenced road excavation along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
 
  • In the next two weeks, the Contractor:
    • Will complete road excavation along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
    • Will complete placement of concrete curbs along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
    • Will complete placement of base asphalt along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
    • Will commence installation of sidewalks along the South side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
    • Will commence road excavation along the West side of Main Street South, South of Main/Queen Intersection, including King Street
    • Will continue installation of the retaining wall at the cemetery
    • Will continue storm sewer installation along the West side of Main Street South, from Main/King Intersection to McClellan
