Update on Phase 2 Alton Village Streetscaping from Serguei Kabanov, Project Manager

 The roadway remains open, with temporary lane closures: Queen Street East, between railway tracks and Main/Queen Intersection – North side of the roadway remains temporary closed – signals in place. Main Street South, between King and Station – West side of the roadway remains temporary closed – signals in place. Contractor will be working most Saturdays, 07:00AM – 4:00PM to expedite work.
 
 In the last two weeks, the Contractor:
  • Completed storm sewer installation along the North side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
  • Completed installation of new watermain services on the West side of Main Street South, between King and Station
  • Continued road excavation and granular placement along the North side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
  • Continued installation of vegetated retaining wall along the North side of Queen Street East, West of the train tracks
  • Continued installation of crane platform – fill at cemetery slope, between , between King and Station
  
In the next two weeks, the Contractor will:
  • Complete decommissioning – plugging of existing watermain between Station and King, including the removal of hydrant
  • Complete installation of crane platform – fill at cemetery slope, between , between King and Station
  • Continue and complete installation of vegetated retaining wall along the North side of Queen Street East, West of the train tracks
  • Continue and complete road excavation and granular placement along the North side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
  • Commence and complete relocation of the school flashing beacon at the cemetery further to the north, away from crane pad – fill
  • Commence storm sewer installation at Main/Queen Intersection
  • Commence road excavation at Main/Queen Intersection (some lanes at the intersection may be left on gravel for a short duration)
  • Commence storm sewer installation along the West side of Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to King
  • Commence road excavation along the West side of Main Street South, from Main/Queen Intersection to King
  • Commence placement of concrete curb along the North side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection
  • Commence installation of the retaining wall at the cemetery
  • Commence underground electrical work along the North side of Queen Street East, from Phase 1 to Main/Queen Intersection

*** Please note Enbridge Gas Distribution (NPL Canada) continues to complete gas relocations in the Village in phases:
 
 
Phase 1:
Station to Edmund – COMPLETED
 
 
Phase 2:
Edmund to Main/Queen Intersection – COMPLETED
Station to McClellan – COMPLETED
McClellan (Main to Agnes) – COMPLETED
McClellan to Beechgrove – COMPLETED
McClellan Road Substation (relocation of the station from N/W to S/W corner) – upcoming
