On October 17th, 2017 a community meeting was held in Alton to allow us to gather and collaborate on ideas regarding the needs of our community. Included in the agenda was a discussion on potential uses of the old Alton School house.
Following the community meeting, the Town received an additional submission from a resident that supported the execution of a feasibility study on the reuse of, and the conversion of, the Old Alton School House into a public use arts and cultural centre.
Update:
We have received an update on the a feasibility study from Ben Roberts, Manger Business Development, Tourism and Culture at the Town of Caledon. He advises that the Town is in the final stages of completing the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and selecting a consultant. It will likely be another week before the successful candidate can be announced publicly
Once they have had an initial meeting with the consultant they will set the timeline and work plan.
We look forward to sharing future updates.
