Alton Village Pump Track Opening

8/7/2019

The Alton Village Association along with Lynx and Hare Cycles and the Town of Caledon are pleased to announce that our official opening of the bicycle "pump track" in Alton was a great success on Saturday.

Lots of local families came out to show us their biking skills and meet: Caledon Mayor Allan Thompson, former Regional Councillor Barb Shaughnessy and our current Regional Councillor Ian Sinclair. All were really impressed with Mayor Thompson taking the first demonstration lap and logging an impressive first time run of 1:02.

Track designer; Chris Dewar from Transitions Bike Parks came to join in the fun and handed out t-shirts to some of our best riders. In all, 20 participants enjoyed testing out the track and recording lap times for bragging rights and good fun. Our top 3 competitors are :
1. with a time of 23.63 seconds by Colin from Erin
2. with a time of 32.15 seconds by Silas from Alton
3. with a time of 33.30 seconds by Ivan from Alton

A complete list of results and times can be found at

Queen Street East and Main Street South – Just a reminder that The Region of Peel Phase 2 of the Alton Streetscaping project is expected to start in March 2019 the community has been advised that work will commence between Beechgrove and McClellan mid-July.
AVA continues to post up-dates provided by the Region of Peel on both here our Facebook Page; https://www.facebook.com/AltonVillageAssociation

Village Square Updates:
AVA has been working the Town to secure water for the Square. We have received great news the installation of water to the Square will be happening in the Spring. This water hookup will allow us to get our water feature operating, and also help us to maintain the Village Gardens. We want to thank Brian Baird, Manager of Parks at the Town of Caledon, for his hard work and ongoing support for our Village Square. The Town of Caledon is also going to take over looking after the Garbage at the Village Square. We want to remind dog lovers, that when walking your pets in the Square to please ensure that you clean-up after them. Your help to keep our Square a pleasant place to stroll is appreciated. The AVA encourages all residents and visitors to enjoy the use of our picnic tables and benches in the Village Square, and did you know that you can pick berries from the bushes along the east boarder of the Square in the spring?

Alton Pump Track, an outdoor bike track located next to the Alton Ball Diamond is well underway. The base is installed, and if the weather cooperates it is hoped that the track is completed in June.
